We usually do at least two paintings in each class based on that months subject.
The first is a warm up and is more abstract. Then we try a more realistic approach to the subject. Both paintings teach the techniques needed, the second building on the first painting. 
In my classes I will lead new students through the Basics of wet into wet, wet on dry, damp on damp, dry brush, brushwork, etc. 
I frequently show the class how to use value and color temperature for distance.  
Between classes, I have occasional email, video and Zoom check ins to help keep motivation high. 
Please do not buy any supplies until we have a discussion. Watercolor takes good materials to get the results you want.  I can help you find those supplies at a reasonable cost or you can purchase a basic kit from me.
